A TikTok slideshow template is a slide-by-slide script: a hook, middle slides with one idea each, and a call to action. You fill in the [blanks] for your niche. Copy one of the 18 templates below, replace the brackets, and put the text on 1080×1920 images in photo mode.
These are copy templates, not design files. Pair any of them with a Canva layout, your brand fonts or plain photos. Every card shows the slide count and what each slide has to do.
How to pick a TikTok slideshow template
Pick by goal first, then by the proof you actually have. An honest storytime beats a case study with vague numbers.
| Your goal | Start with | Why it fits |
|---|---|---|
| Reach people who don’t know you | Mistakes listicle, POV, hot take, myth vs fact | The hook names a problem or opinion strangers already have |
| Saves | Checklist, how-to steps, tier list | People keep reference content to use later |
| Comments | Hot take, tier list, comparison | Each one invites a pick or a disagreement |
| Trust before a sale | Storytime, behind the scenes, customer reviews, case study | They show real people, real process and real results |
| A launch or offer | Product launch, before and after, comparison | They put the offer in context instead of just announcing it |
Want the reasoning behind a structure? Each format has its own breakdown of slide roles and hooks: mistakes listicle, before and after, POV, chat screenshot, tier list, storytime, myth vs fact and things I wish I knew.
How many slides to use
TikTok photo posts take up to 35 images, according to TikTok’s developer docs. That is a ceiling, not a target.
Every extra slide is one more chance to lose the viewer. Add a slide only when it carries a new point, which is why most templates here run 7 or 8 slides.
How to fill in a template
- Decide the payoff first. Write what the last content slide proves, teaches or reveals. The hook exists to promise that payoff.
- Fill the middle slides with one idea each. If a slide needs two ideas, split it or cut one. Aim for 25 words or fewer.
- Write the hook last. Keep the template’s pattern and swap in your audience’s words. The hook library has more patterns by category.
- Test slide 1 against the final slide. Read only those two. If they don’t connect, the hook overpromises.
- Ask for one thing. Match the CTA to your goal: save, comment, follow or link in bio. Not all four.
Worked example: the mistakes listicle for a bookkeeper
| Slide | Template | Filled in |
|---|---|---|
| 1 | 5 [niche] mistakes that cost you [result] | 5 bookkeeping mistakes that cost freelancers at tax time |
| 2 | [Common habit]. It feels [easy], but it [consequence]. | One bank account for everything. It feels simpler, but it turns tax prep into guesswork. |
| 3 | Skipping [step]. You pay for it later in [cost]. | Skipping monthly reconciliation. You pay for it in April with a weekend of digging. |
| 6 | [Big mistake]. Fix: [one-line fix]. | Spending the tax money. Fix: move a set percentage of every payment to a separate account. |
| 7 | Save this before your next [task]. | Save this before your next invoice. Follow for the fix to each one. |
Notice what changed: the nouns, the pain and the timing. The structure stayed exactly the same.
Design guidance: text size and placement on 1080×1920
Design every slide at 1080 × 1920 pixels (9:16). TikTok’s posting API caps photos at 1080p and 20 MB, in JPEG or WebP. A 4K export gains nothing (checked October 2026).
| Element | Size on a 1080-px-wide canvas | Length |
|---|---|---|
| Hook on slide 1 | 90–130 px, bold | 3 lines, about 8–12 words |
| Middle-slide text | 54–72 px | 25 words or fewer |
| Labels, sources, small print | 40 px minimum | One line |
These are working rules, not TikTok specs. Check every slide on your own phone at arm’s length before posting.
Where TikTok covers your slide
TikTok does not publish a safe zone for photo posts. The closest reference is its in-feed ad layout.
Adkit’s measured template (updated September 2026) reserves about 240 px at the top and 660 px at the bottom. It also keeps 120 px clear on each side, plus a wider strip on the lower right for the buttons.
| Zone on a 1080×1920 slide | What sits there | What to put there |
|---|---|---|
| Top ~240 px | Status bar, Following and For You tabs | Background only |
| Right edge, lower half | Like, comment, save and share buttons | Nothing you need read |
| Bottom ~660 px | Username, caption, sound name | Background or decoration |
| The middle band | Nothing | Your hook and body text |
Organic posts with a one-line caption cover less of the bottom. Some slideshow guides put the caption area closer to 320 px. The bigger margin still never fails, so use it for anything important.
If you will also post it on Instagram
Instagram keeps photos between 1.91:1 and 3:4, so a 9:16 slide gets cropped. At 3:4 you keep 1080 × 1440, losing about 240 px from the top and bottom. At 4:5 you keep 1080 × 1350, losing about 285 px from each end.
One rule covers both apps: keep every word between about y = 300 and y = 1260, and 120 px from each side. The Instagram carousel size guide explains the crop in detail.
Make it readable
- Contrast first. White text with a 4–6 px dark outline, or text on a solid label box, survives any background.
- Same position on every slide. Keep the font, size and text position fixed so the swipe feels like one piece.
- Calm space behind the hook. Put slide 1’s text over sky, wall or blur, not over faces or busy patterns.
- Bake text into the image. TikTok’s text tool works for one-offs, but baked-in text keeps fonts and placement identical every time.
How to adapt a template for your niche
Change three things and keep the structure: the nouns, the proof and the CTA.
| Niche | Template | Hook written for it |
|---|---|---|
| Budgeting app | POV | POV: you finally stuck to a budget for a whole month |
| Candle shop | Behind the scenes | What happens after you order a candle from us |
| Personal trainer | Myth vs fact | 4 fat-loss myths my clients believed on day one |
| Local cafe | Tier list | Ranking every drink on our menu, honestly |
| Rental agent | Red flags | Red flags when touring a rental apartment |
A few rules keep adapted templates honest and specific:
- Use your customers’ words. Pull phrases from reviews, DMs and support tickets, not from your own marketing copy.
- Real proof only. Case studies, review slides and before-and-after photos need real numbers, real photos and permission. Never write a review yourself.
- Shrink, don’t pad. Cutting a template from 8 slides to 6 is fine. Padding it to 12 usually isn’t.
- Rebuild, don’t repost. If another creator’s slideshow inspired you, keep only the structure. Write new words and use your own images.
“TikTok template” can also mean a video template
Searching “TikTok template” often turns up video templates: presets where you drop in photos and get set transitions and music. TikTok has these in its camera’s mode selector, labeled Templates or Photo Templates depending on app version. CapCut has a Templates tab too.
Those presets control motion and sound. The templates on this page control the words, so you can use both. Just post in photo mode if you want a swipeable slideshow, not a video that plays itself.
How to use these templates in Canva
Canva’s TikTok templates give you the look. These give you the words.
- Start a custom-size design at 1080 × 1920 px, or open a TikTok-sized template you like.
- Add one page per slide in the template you picked.
- Paste the slide text and replace every bracket. Delete the template’s placeholder copy.
- Mark the safe band (about y = 300 to 1260) with a temporary rectangle, then delete it before export.
- Download all pages as PNG. In TikTok, choose your photos in slide order, because reordering after you tap Next has been limited.
Start from a slideshow that already works
If a slideshow in your niche already performs, its structure is your template. Write down each slide’s role: hook, setup, proof, payoff, CTA. Then fill that skeleton with your own words.
TokCloner automates that step. Paste a public TikTok slideshow link and it rebuilds the same structure for your business profile. You get new text, plus new backgrounds or your own photos, as editable 1080×1920 PNGs.
A clone usually takes 1–3 minutes. There is no free plan (plans start at $29 a month), and it doesn’t post for you. For Instagram versions of these structures, see the Instagram carousel templates.
Frequently asked questions
Are these TikTok slideshow templates free?
Yes. Copy the text from any card on this page and use it however you like. They work in any design tool that exports 1080×1920 images, including Canva, Figma and phone editors.
What size should a TikTok slideshow template be?
Use 1080 × 1920 pixels, a 9:16 ratio. TikTok's posting API caps photos at 1080p and 20 MB, so bigger files gain nothing. Keep text out of roughly the top 240 px and bottom 660 px.
How many slides can a TikTok slideshow have?
TikTok photo posts take up to 35 images. Most templates here use 7 or 8 slides: a hook, five or six points and a call to action.
Is there a Canva TikTok template for slideshows?
Canva has TikTok-sized 1080×1920 designs. Use one for the look, paste a structure from this page for the words, then download every page as PNG and upload them in photo mode.
What is the difference between a TikTok slideshow template and a TikTok video template?
A slideshow template is a text structure for a swipeable photo post. A video template is a preset in TikTok's Templates mode or CapCut that turns your photos into a video with set transitions and music.
Can I make a TikTok slide template in Google Slides or PowerPoint?
Yes. Set a custom 9:16 slide size, design each slide, and export each one as an image at least 1,080 pixels wide. Check the exported size before you upload.
